Between 9:00am and noon on October 10, 2018, EIS will be performing electrical maintenance in the McLennan Data Centre. This maintenance will require each of our two Schneider Electric PX-500 UPS units to be de-energized, though not at the same time.
Since all equipment in the facility is redundantly power from both units, and we have performed this procedure several times before without incident, we expect no interruption of service. However, some stakeholders may receive alerts as each unit is shutdown and later returned to service. This is by design and should not cause concern.
This maintenance is considered routine. There is always the possibility that a device having redundant power supply units (PSUs) will have a PSU failure during the maintenance window. Data Centre staff visually inspect all equipment before each critical phase to ensure that power redundancy is operating normally before proceeding into the critical phase.
