Scheduled
UofT Facilities & Services has scheduled electrical maintenance requiring a complete shutdown of the building’s high-voltage electrical supply for up to 18 hours. Backup power will be supplied to the ITS Administrative Data Centre (DCB) by its permanently-installed diesel generator, equipped with its own on-site fuel supply which can be replenished should the need arise.
The ITS Administrative Data Centre was designed, built and has been maintained specifically to operate normally and indefinitely under these conditions, without impact to IT services.
While it is extremely unlikely, a failure of either the data centre’s generator or its primary cooling plant during the maintenance period could, in the worst case, force a complete shutdown of the facility. During the maintenance window, there will be no base-building power or cooling supply available and the building will be locked-down. For life-safety reasons, building access will be restricted to staff directly involved in the maintenance program.
EIS data centre operations staff will closely monitor the facility during the electrical maintenance.
